XYGATE Password Quality (XPQ)

Improve Password Security & Compliance

Security systems are only as strong as their weakest link. A 0 to 8 character uncontrolled password is that weakest link. With XYPRO’s XYGATE Password Quality (XPQ) password rules can be pre-specified for any combination of several different quality characteristics, such as password length, upper and lower case, numbers, control characters, special characters, repeating characters and more.

Frequent changes make passwords more resistant to attack. With XPQ, password updating for Guardian user IDs and Safeguard aliases can be initiated from any node where the user has access. Then XPQ encrypts transmission of the new password to all HPE NonStop nodes where the corresponding user ID or alias is valid. In addition to synchronizing passwords in a network, XPQ can synchronize password changes with custom applications that have separate password databases.

With XPQ, you can define owners of the password change operation for any user ID or alias, even to the point of excluding the user ID or alias owner from changing the password themselves. If an emergency occurs and sensitive user ID such as SUPER.SUPER must be used, you can prevent those temporarily using this user ID from changing its password.

With XPQ, new users, or users with reset passwords, can be forced to change their password at initial logon. This automatic expiration ensures that before a new user interacts with the system, only that user knows the password for his or her user ID.

Eliminate your weakest link by enforcing the use of strong passwords on your HPE NonStop Server with XPQ.
